Textured & hard wearing
Resin bond
Stone scattered onto a resin layer for a rougher, higher-grip surface. Harder wearing underfoot, and usually the cheaper of the two.
Stone & block
Paving & patios
Slabs, setts and block paving, laid to a proper fall so water goes where it should. The same groundwork rules apply underneath.
Why two quotes differ by thousands
A driveway is mostly the part you never see.
Two driveways can look identical from the road and come in thousands apart. What moves the number is underneath: how deep the sub-base has to go, whether the ground holds water, how bad the levels are, and whether a machine can get in or it all comes out by barrow.
Skip that and the surface goes first. It sinks at the wheel tracks, it cracks at the edges, and the only real fix is lifting it and starting again.
